Carroll Lake- Nearby Carroll Lake is
one of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources
Agency's family lakes and provides
excellent fishing and other outdoor
opportunities for all ages. It has a
store, boat ramp, boat rentals and a

McKenzie City Park- McKenzie has two
city parks, with McKenzie Park being the
largest at approximately 25 acres. A one
half acre duck pond is located within
the park. Fishing is allowed during
posted hours. The park also features
five ball fields, tennis courts, picnic
tables and playgrounds.
"The Barn"- located near the duck pond
includes a shaded picnic area and makes
an ideal location for warm weather
gatherings. The structure is convenient
when food is going to be served. Also,
kids will find entertainment in feeding
the ducks and utilizing the playground
equipment. Reservations must be made
with the Parks Department for use of
"The Barn", but there is no fee.
McKenzie Memorial Library- The McKenzie
Memorial Library, located in downtown
McKenzie, contains more than 7,600
volumes. A full time librarian is
available during hours of operation. The
library provides scheduled reading
groups, programs for children and
internet accessible computers.
Gordon Browning Museum- The Gordon
Browning Genealogical Museum is located
in downtown McKenzie. The museum is
dedicated to Gordon Browning, who served
as the Governor of Tennessee from
1937-1939 and again from 1949-1953.
The museum has complete resources for
researching families and history of
Carroll and surrounding counties.
Resources include census information for
Carroll county, indexed copies of
marriages from 1830-1880 and an obituary
file with over 8,000 listings. The
museum has approximately 1,700
genealogical books and magazines.
The museum also contains displays that
replicate lifestyles from a varitey of
time periods. One such example is the
reproduction of an 1800's kitchen/living
room. Another room houses farming
equipment and a variety of items from
days gone by.

Kentucky Lake- Kentucky Lake is just a
short drive from McKenzie and provides
plenty of boating, hunting and fishing
opportunities. It's Tennessee's largest
lake with 160,000 acres of water and
2,380 miles of shoreline. It is also
widely known as "The Crappie Capitol of

Gaines Pool- Gaines Pool is located on
the campus of Bethel College. It is a
Junior Olympic size, indoor pool. The
facility is maintained by Bethel
College. The pool is open almost year
round and is accessible to the public.
Additionally, arrangements can be made
to reserve the pool for birthday parties
and other special events. Swimming
lessons are available each summer.
Carroll Lake Country Club- Carroll Lake
Country Club is a "members only" club
which offers a variety of delicious
meals as well as a lounge area. The club
also schedules events and activities
regularly. Carroll Lake Country Club is
open to all companies and organizations
to book parties.
Carroll Lake Golf Course- Located near
scenic Carroll Lake is Carroll Lake Golf
Course. This is an 18 hole course with a
pro-shop on site. Clubs are available
and lessons are offered during scheduled
times.

TWRA operated Carroll Lake. With
construction planned to soon get
underway at the new 977 acre lake we
will have even more water based
activities for the county.
